INTRODUCTION

When a Good Idea Needs a Product Around It

Medville came to us with a clear belief. Getting help for a skin concern should not be this hard.

They were right. Patients struggle to work out which specialist treats hair loss versus pigmentation. Appointment slots are limited. And plenty of people quietly avoid the whole thing because they do not want to discuss acne or thinning hair in a waiting room.

The vision was a digital-first dermatology service that felt convenient, personal and discreet. What did not exist yet was the product to deliver it.

That is where Tenet came in. Our job was to turn an idea into a working platform. Not just a booking app, which is where most healthcare products stop, but a full ecosystem covering the patient, the doctor and the team running the business behind them.

Three very different users. One product. That was the real design challenge, and it shaped every decision we made from the first workshop to the final handover.

BACKGROUND

Plenty of apps help you book a doctor. Very few help with what happens after the booking.

Medville wanted the whole journey in one place. Find the right specialist. Book the consultation. Speak to the doctor. Follow the treatment plan. Keep the records. Come back when needed.

Early in discovery, we narrowed that ambition into three things the product had to get right.

Access. Good skin and aesthetic care should not depend on living near the right clinic.

Personalization. A long list of doctor names helps nobody. Patients needed pointing towards professionals who treat their exact concern.

Trust and privacy. Skin photos, treatment history and private conversations are sensitive. That information needed a system built to protect it.

Together these gave us a product vision we could design against. Expert skin care that feels accessible, stigma-free, personal and convenient.

We also flagged something important before design started. Medville was not a patient app. It was a three-sided platform, and building it as anything less would create problems the moment real doctors and real operations came onboard.

Defining the Visual Language

APPROACH

Instead of designing a patient app and adding screens for everyone else, we mapped each side of the platform on its own terms.

Patients looking for dermatology, cosmetology and aesthetic consultations.

Doctors, meaning dermatologists and cosmetologists running consultations, writing treatment recommendations and managing follow-up care.

Admins, the operational layer handling users, doctors, appointments, transactions, content and everything happening across the platform.

Each group received its own journey map. Only then did we connect them, so a patient booking lands correctly in a doctor's calendar and shows up cleanly in the admin view.

How We Ran the Project

Our work moved through six stages.

  • Discovery. We explored the target audience, studied the competitive landscape, gathered requirements and tested technical feasibility.
  • Definition. We mapped user journeys across patients, doctors and admins, then locked down the key product requirements.
  • Experience design. We turned those journeys into information architecture, wireframes, UI design and interactive prototypes.
  • Development. We built the approved experience into the mobile product and the supporting dashboards.
  • Validation. We tested functionality, usability, performance, security and device compatibility.
  • Delivery. We prepared the final product for deployment with full documentation and knowledge transfer.

Why We Worked in Loops

We do not treat design as something you finish once and hand over.

Medville was shaped through a working loop. Understand the people involved. Build and improve alongside the client. Measure what happens. Learn and refine again.

That rhythm kept four things aligned throughout the project. Business objectives, user needs, healthcare requirements and technical feasibility. When one moved, we adjusted the others instead of letting the gaps grow.

The Decision That Shaped the Product

The biggest call we made was rejecting the directory model.

A directory puts all the effort on the patient. You have to already know what you need before it can help you. For someone worried about hair loss, that is the hardest question of all.

So we designed an assessment-led experience instead. The product understands the concern first, then guides the patient towards the right dermatologist or cosmetologist.

We built the logic as a single clear path. Concern, assessment, relevant expertise, doctor discovery, consultation.

We also designed for two very different needs. Some concerns need one conversation. Others need months of care. So the platform supports both one-time consultations and structured subscription plans.

Building Trust Into the Design, Not Onto It

In healthcare, trust is not a feature. It is the reason someone taps the button at all. We treated security as part of the experience from the first wireframe rather than something engineering adds at the end. That meant designing verified doctor profiles, visible qualifications and expertise, ratings and reviews, secure patient records, controlled access to sensitive information and protected doctor-patient communication.

Every interaction was designed to stay confidential and encrypted, with HIPAA and GDPR considerations built into our platform approach from the start.

SOLUTION

Three Experiences, One Working Ecosystem

What We Built for Patients

We designed the patient app around one promise. Find the right care. Book it easily. Manage the journey without chasing anyone.

We delivered secure authentication and onboarding, personalized doctor recommendations, search and filtering by doctor and area of expertise, appointment scheduling, video and chat consultations, online payments, treatment history and prescriptions, a before and after photo vault, ratings and reviews, medical records and profile history, appointment reminders and rescheduling, subscription plans and customer support.

We built the recommendation experience around real concerns such as acne, pigmentation, anti-ageing and hair loss, weighed alongside each doctor's qualifications, expertise and ratings.

The Journey We Designed

  • Discover. Find a specialist who treats that specific concern.
  • Choose. Review expertise, qualifications and ratings.
  • Schedule. Select treatment type, date and available time.
  • Consult. Connect through secure video or chat.
  • Treat. Receive prescriptions, product recommendations and a structured treatment plan.
  • Follow up. Return to records, progress information and the next consultation.

What We Built for Doctors

Doctors needed more than a video window. They needed somewhere to run their practice.

We designed the doctor experience as an operational workspace, covering secure onboarding and authentication, identity and licensing verification, a consultation dashboard, appointment and calendar management, video and chat consultations, prescriptions, treatment plans, product recommendations, patient progress management, payment and revenue management and subscription-related payouts.

The result is one continuous workflow from appointment to consultation to treatment recommendation to follow-up, with nothing falling through the gaps between separate tools.

What We Built for Admins

Behind both experiences, we built the control room.

Admins manage patients and doctors, set role-based access, oversee appointments, monitor transactions and settlements, verify doctors, send notifications and alerts, manage content, handle support tickets and maintain platform-level security and compliance.

Designing for Care That Continues

Skin treatment is rarely one conversation. Results take weeks, sometimes months. So we built the platform to hold long relationships, not just single transactions. We designed monthly, quarterly and annual subscription models with discounted consultation rates, priority booking, free follow-ups and seasonal wellness offers. That gives the business two revenue paths from the same product. Quick consultations for people who need one answer, and subscriptions for patients on a real treatment journey.

The Result

We delivered every part of a modern dermatology platform as one connected product.

A patient can move from a private worry to a verified specialist, a real consultation, a treatment plan and a follow-up without leaving the app or repeating their story. Doctors get the tools to run consultations and manage patient journeys properly. Admins get visibility across everything happening on the platform. One ecosystem. Three connected experiences. One straight path to digital skin care.

The Impact

We took a skin care journey scattered across searches, phone calls, waiting rooms and paper prescriptions, and put it in one place.

For patients, care is easier to find, easier to book and far more relevant to what they are actually dealing with. For doctors, there is a single home for consultations, treatment plans and patient progress. For the business, there is a scalable digital ecosystem built to support consultations, subscriptions, payments and long-term patient engagement.

This is the kind of problem Tenet is built for. Complex products with multiple user groups, real operational demands and no room for guesswork. We turned the idea of a digital dermatology service into a connected product ecosystem, designed around the people who use it, the professionals who deliver care and the operational teams who keep it running.
